About The Artist
Dee Dee Wright , born in 1942 on the east side of Detroit was one of four girls in a very loving family. Dee Dee and her sisters (Suzie, Gretchen and Mary, were all encouraged to perform either playing instruments and/or singing together.
Upon arrival in Chicago Dee Dee began to perform in folk clubs such as Earl of Old Town, It's Here, The Centaur and Mother Blues to mention a few. She has performed with many great writers and musicians. Dee Dee took a few years off from folk music to form her own show band and traveled performing at top hotels.
Later she took up acting and performed in many productions primarily musicals. Her last performances were at the Pheasant Run in St Charles, IL. This included Cabaret and Barefoot in The Park. She then returned to music and began performing once again, either solo or with a great mix of wonderful musicians. She is proud to have performed at the Underground Wonderbar in Chicago. Dee Dee and her husband, Gary, moved out of the city to their home on a lake. They are proud grandparents with eleven grandchildern.
